Oily Skin & Shiny Forehead

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Fighting a shiny forehead and oily skin is a problem a lot of people face.  Oil tends to be worse in the t-zone, forehead, nose and chin, of the face.  The forehead can be a particularly shiny area.  When the forehead has too much oil it is prone to pimples, blackheads, and even acne.  Controlling shine and grease in this area is not always easy, but there are steps that you can take.  Look for one ingredient in particular called zinc pca as well as the herbs thyme and sage.

In order to combat a shiny forehead you need to keep the area clean.  This can be complicated by the fact that dirt and oil from the hair is easily transferred to the area.  Using a gentle natural cleanser two times per day is a good idea.  Many oil skin cleansers contain chemical products that will make the skin overly dry.  If the skin has too little oil more problems can occur and it is possible that the sebaceous gland will over compensate and begin to produce even more oil.

Oily Skin & Shiny Forehead

There are natural ingredients that can be used to reduce shine on the forehead.  Zinc PCA is one ingredient that naturally removes oil and dirt in pores and this will eliminate the cause of oily skin while others simply want to strip the skin.  It also can regulate the sebaceous gland and help it to produce the correct amount of oil.  Another option is to use blotting sheets.  These sheets work well for use throughout the day.  They blot away the oil without messing up your makeup.  Exfoliating regularly can help reduce oil on the forehead as well.  A mud mask can also help remove oil and grime from pores.  With persistence and the right products you can reduce a shiny forehead.

Why Choose Paraben Free Skin Care

Parabens can be found in many healthcare products like shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers, shaving gels, cleansers, and toothpastes.   In fact, so many personal care products contain parabens that they are hard to avoid.   They are used in these products as a preservative.   There are a variety of parabens including methyl, propyl, butyl and ethyl.  They can also often be found in pharmaceuticals and some food.

So why should parabens be avoided?  Many studies have been done and there is evidence that parabens can be very bad for you.  They are easily absorbed directly through the skin.  They can mimic the hormone estrogen, which has been shown to aid in the development of breast cancer.  They have also been shown to have a potential adverse affect on the reproductive health of both men and women.  In some studies parabens have been shown to disrupt endocrine in women.  They have been linked to other forms of cancer as well.  One paraben, Methylparaben, has actually been banned in the United Kingdom for use in all fragrances.

It is also believed that parabens have an affect on development of adults and children.  The exact reason it has these affects are not know.  But it is best not to take the risk when there are good alternative available.  Instead you can use natural products without parabens.  Because so many products and popular brand names contain parabens you have to check you labels closely.  Even products labeled organic may contain parabens.  With a little homework it is possible to find good products that are labeled paraben free.
